How discovery and promotions work
Readers should be able to tell the difference between an author’s contribution, an editorial choice and a paid placement.
Catalog and author contributions
Book information is supplied by authors and administrators. Authors can optionally import edition information from Open Library, review it, and add their own context. A public listing is not a claim that we have cooked from the book, independently verified every detail, or endorsed its advice.
Author profiles and journals identify who is speaking. A linked account indicates who manages the listing; printed author credits remain separate. Reader comments represent their contributors’ views.
Search and browse
Catalog search gives more weight to titles and author names than descriptions. Promotion tier does not increase relevance. Categories, recent additions and journal discovery offer other ways to explore; they are not bestseller lists or rankings of quality.
Featured picks and sample listings
Current homepage spotlight and shelf selections are unpaid featured picks, chosen by site administrators. Placement depends on publication status, scheduling and available space; it is not a ranking of quality or a claim of firsthand testing. Listings marked as fictional samples are demonstrations, not real books or author endorsements.
Future paid placements
Paid placements are planned and will be clearly labeled Sponsored or Paid placement, separately from unpaid selections. A paid placement will not constitute a review or recommendation. We do not sell favorable editorial reviews. Affiliate purchase links are disclosed separately and do not mean that a publisher paid for a shelf position.
Affiliate links and purchases
Where our Amazon affiliate links are used: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Other disclosed affiliate links may earn a commission for Cookbook.store or the contributor. See the disclosure beside the purchase link. Ordinary seller links are not necessarily affiliate links.
Purchases take place with the linked seller. Check that seller’s edition, price, availability, delivery and returns information before ordering. We do not invent prices, star ratings or reader reviews.
Editorial standards
Editorial comparisons should explain their selection criteria and identify their writer. Firsthand testing is described only when it actually happened. Sponsored content must be labeled. Any sample recipes, excerpts or images must be owned by the contributor or shared with permission.
Corrections and moderation
Authors can update their listings and journals. Administrators review submitted content and can correct or unpublish it; publication can precede review. Use the report action on comments or email support@cookbook.store with a page URL to report errors, rights concerns or misleading content.
